More wonderful police work, excerpt from Quad Cities Times, April 17th, 2012:
A man was arrested Tuesday on charges he assaulted and disarmed Davenport police officers.
Yusuf Hasan Shariff, 55, of 1608 W. 13th St., Davenport, was stopped by police at 4:41 a.m. for driving too fast in the 2500 block of Marquette Street, police said.
As officers attempted to take him into custody, he spun around and punched an officer in the mouth, his arrest affidavit states.
As he continued fighting with officers, he removed a knife from an officer’s utility belt and attempted to stab the officer in the abdomen, the affidavit states.
As he swung the knife around, he cut another officer’s finger, an injury that required three stitches, the affidavit states.
Shariff had been released from the Scott County Jail on Sunday after posting bond on a fifth-degree theft charge.
He was booked back into the jail Tuesday morning on the felony assault charges and remains in custody.
