Where the Sidewalk Always Ends

Here in the Quad Cities civil engineering is somewhat lacking. Every 100 feet or so the sidewalk just ends. If you turn and walk directly across the street you can pick it up again but no where is there just a normal, every day sidewalk that just goes on to the jogger's content.

The first picture is where the sidewalk "ends". I turned and walked directly across the street and, what do you know, the sidewalk's there again.
